Looking Back: The Kars Sesquicentennial Celebrations (1972)
~ by Susan McKellar ~
The Kars Community Recreation Association is organizing a celebration of the 200 th anniversary of the Village of Kars, planned for July 16, 2022. They are considering activities such as a softball game/tournament, children’s games, face-painting, a farmer’s market, and others.
Sandy McNiece and Susan McKellar (Kars residents) attended an initial planning meeting this summer, and agreed to help with the historical aspect of the event. We thought of things like a display of local history books, Kars historical artifacts from the Rideau Archives, a walking tour of the village. If any RTHS members would like to help with this, or have ideas, please contact Sandy or Susan.

Some may remember the week-long Sesquicentennial Anniversary celebrations held in July of 1972. Planning started a few months earlier, with an organizing committee of Bill Tupper (chair), Larry Renton, Hugh Lindsay and Bill Pratt.
